Challenges of health management

an analysis based on the complexity of Edgar Morin

Abstract

Health management requires facing problems for which there are no normative solutions. Thus, this phenomenon can be reflected based on the theoretical-philosophical foundation of complex thinking presented by Edgar Morin. Therefore, the objective is to analyze the challenges of health management based on Edgar Morin's complexity. This is a reflective research, developed between September and December 2023, in four stages: a) full reading and systematic discussion of the work Ciência com Consciência, by Edgar Morin; b) problematization of the challenges of complexity from the perspective of health management; c) bibliographic survey, organization of the identified content and discussion among the authors; and d) synthesis of knowledge based on the collective production of the reflective text. The guidance to the avenues that lead to complex thinking corroborated several dimensions of the phenomenon. The aspects arising from the management system itself, based on the constitution of health care networks, and the human factors of the manager, which include his/her training, knowledge and skills, were taken into consideration. By analyzing the topic from Morin's perspective, it was possible to admit that health management coexists in the face of the contemplation of attributes that diverge or complement each other, clarifying and clarifying the paths to be taken for the critical analysis of existing challenges and their overcoming.
