AS PRÁTICAS DE LEITURAS DE OSVALDO CHAVES

Abstract

This work reflects on the history of reading practices in the town of Granja, in the interior of Ceará, focusing specifically on the childhood and youth reading memories of the priest-poet Osvaldo Chaves (1923–2020). It draws on the autobiographical accounts of this intellectual, through interviews and self-writings, which reconstruct the social and cultural experiences of that rural setting during the 1930s and 1940s. To this end, the study employs theoretical and methodological contributions related to biographical space and the history of books and reading.
