LOCAL VIEWS ABOUT DONA GUIDINHA DO POÇO

Abstract

This article studies the various views on the character Dona Guidinha do Poço, a work by Oliveira Paiva, based on the books “À margem de Dona Guidinha do Poço: história romanceada, história documentada”, published in 1963, by historian Ismael Pordeus; "A absolvição de Marica Lessa", 2003 by journalist and poet Graça Braga; and “D. Guidinha do poço- A peça”, from 2019, by the chronicler Felix Almeida. All from Quixeramobim-CE, the city where Oliveira was treated for tuberculosis and where Marica Lessa, the landowner accused of murdering her husband in 1853, lived. Through these works we will identify the representations of the role of the feminine and their actions in different historical epochs.
