Abstract

The intention is to present an overview of the science’s changes and transformations from the development of the Greek investigative inquisition (6th century BC); later, safeguarded by Islamic Arab culture in the high European Middle Ages (4th century AD - 12th century AD). For that, it’s examined works that are composed or adorned by pictorial forms portrayed on the plane, in the light of the panofskian iconographic analysis. The images are those made in stained glass, ceramics, manuscripts, mosaics or frescoes; that can express subjects, moments or extraordinary episodes related to nature, physical phenomena or understanding of the world. From this evaluation, the stabilization of astronomy and the first movements in the areas of physics (e.g., mechanics, acoustics and optics) are evidented.
