Abstract

Little known outside the circles of Egyptology, ancient Egyptian literature has been extremely heterogeneous. Among the written texts studied by Egyptologists, a number could be undoubtedly classified as literature, as we currently know. However, there are still many questions about how these narratives were transmitted, for whom they were intended, if they were transmitted orally and later written, among other issues that remain unanswered. In this
study there will be presented three narratives, the Tales of Westcar Papyrus, the Tale of Two Brothers and the Tale of the Shipwrecked Sailor. Based on a presentation of manuscripts and a summary of the narratives, the literary aspects and the main features of the stories will be presented as well as a comparative analysis of these Egyptian narratives.
