Abstract

This paper, based on the central idea that the disease can be seen in addition to biological questions, aims to reflect on the ways in which diseases are thought within the cultural context in which they emerge. We do it a wide bibliographic approach to the issue so that we can account for the perception of the disease while construction. Noting the fact that the human being is one of a number being inserted in various biological interactions promoted by microorganisms, do a retrospective analysis in order to understand the human interaction with the environment and moves with these microscopic beings in the appearance of the context of diseases. We conclude by addressing the case of separate production of representations about cholera in Ceará in the years 1855 because of its implication in neighboring provinces and in 1862, when once again threatens alencarinas borders, but with no history have done the previous occasion. The disease, even though only became multiple insofar as it was read and interpreted in different ways meant the culture and analyzed historical subjects.
