Abstract

This article aims to establish some levels of understanding about the notions of biopolitics and prophylaxis perceived in "Variola e Vacinação" of Rodolfo Teófilo. This sense, we seek to initially demonstrate what is meant by biopolitics anchored at the thought of Michel Foucault and other theorists who have written about this concept of Foucault and as the ideia of prophylaxis falls on it. Finally, we seek through the analysis of the book understand how the discourse of Rodolfo Teofilo approaches the bio-political, in the face of charges that he made to the State with the expectation that this would take into account the criticisms mentioned by him in respect of bad public management health in Ceará.
