Abstract

It is known today that the field of History of Health and Diseases has, admittedly, its place in the scope of the local, national and international Historiography.
Thus, partly because it understands the importance of this field in current historical research, partly because it has as its mark the issues of its time, the History and Cultures Magazine of the Academic Master in History - MAHIS dedicates this issue to the debate that several researchers in Ceará, in Piauí and Santa Catarina, for example, are struggling about this issue. This collection proposes to present ten articles in which are discussed several themes that establish dialogues with this field of studies. They are texts that can be referenced in the history of science and medicine, of the actions in
public health, in the sense of offering a fight against diseases of the body and mind in specific spaces, as well as of the practices performed by the powers and knowledges in order to remove the so-called undesirable elements from the urban nuclei.
