Abstract

This article aims to discuss how the female is figured in the novel Fora de mim (2010),
of the writer Martha Medeiros, published by Objetiva publishing house. Our intention
is to understand how is elaborated the imaginary of the female from a contemporary
writer, putting on the intersection the women‟s writing and the creation of the own
female. Lauretis (1987) points out that gender representation is at the same time its
construction, in the other words, the measure that represents the feminine is also the
(re)creating the idea of the feminine.
