Abstract

This paper proposes a reflection on the spectacular exoticism related to Amazon. The methodological approach follows the bias of communicational ecosystems, analyzing the phenomenon on the relationship between historical factors, human, social, cultural, environmental and technological. Exposes a mosaic of multiplicities, redeeming aspects that contributed to the imagery of the crystallization of the region, focusing on characteristics of the formation of the natural environment, human presence and their different ethnic groups and social and cultural transformations of the historical process. It can be seen that the strength of hegemonic ideologies built ideas and values propagated by common sense, influenced by the media. Thus, the concepts of the Amazon usually reproduce symbols and values of the colonized imaginary, reinforcing stereotypes, cultural clichés and limited understanding of the peculiarities of the region.
