"IT'S HIP HOP IN MY EMBALADA": CULTURAL PRACTICES IN THE YEAR 1980-1990

Abstract

This article lectures about MangueBit and its development as cultural mosaic of contemporary Brazilian, but to give an overview analyzing cultural practices experienced in Recife in 1980 by two of the principal architects of this cultural movement Chico Vulgo (Chico Science Future) and Jorge du Peixe (singer of Nação Zumbi) when participating in the gang dance "Legião Hip Hop " founded the city of Olinda in 1984. Finally we analyze the break dancing in Recife in its infancy, as well as the phases that characterize these last three decades, electing him as an important factor in fostering the MangueBit in the 1990s.
