Falls and risings in Quixadá and the victory of the PT in 1992

Abstract

This article shows the types of situations that made possible the ascension of the PT (Partido
dos Trabalhadores) through its candidate José IlárioGonçalves Marques to the power in City
Hall of Quixadá, Ceará, Brazil, in 1992. It intends to show that this victory was possible
within a specific context, conducive to the growth of a candidacy that was identified with
desire for change.
