FOR AN INSTITUTIONAL HISTORY OF THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF CEARÁ

Abstract

This article reflects on the potential for conducting research on the institutional history of the Fed-eral University of Ceará. Briefly, it seeks to cast glances over some shadows in the narrative con-structions of UFC's memory and institutional history, especially the narratives elaborated by Rec-tor Martins Filho. It also seeks to reflect on the mythological construction around the creation and the first years of operation of the university. We understand that there is a huge historiographical vacuum in relation to the institutional history of the UFC, especially regarding a historiographic discussion based on concepts that are dear to our practice, such as memory, history, identity and evidence. Nevertheless, the rich source of historical sources and the numerous possibilities of prob-lematizations favor a necessary effort for an institutional history of the UFC.
