THE MUSEUMS AND THE IDENTITY OF THE INSTITUTIONS IN THE CONTEMPORARY WORLD

Abstract

In the contemporary debate of museology we observe that the museum institution emerges from the necessity of the preservation of the objects of a community or institution. This article aims to review the concept of the museum institution and how this definition has changed over time. We want to understand why institutions, such as the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco, maintain spaces such as the "UFRPE Memorial" to carry out the custody, research and dissemination of its institutional history. We conclude by showing that educational actions disseminate the memory and cultural values of this institution.
