IGREJA CATÓLICA E A ESCRAVIDÃO DE AFRICANOS
Abstract
This article aims to present, in a concise and simple way, how the Catholic Church dealt with the problem of slavery in the American continent, especially in Brazil, the last country in the West to abolish slavery. For this purpose, several papal documents published from the 15th to the 19th century are used, which are properly contextualized with the use of relevant bibliography. Finally, considerations are made about the content presented.
