This article is interested in understanding the female representations condensed within the film “Neptune’s daughter” (1949), produced and distributed by the Hollywood studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. To this end we set out to analyze the film’s scenes considering that its production took place in a post-World War II (1939-1945) period, in na american Society that, after the endo f the conflict, encouraged women to return to the exclusive dedication to the roles of mothers and housewives. At this time, the elaboration of “Neptune’s daughter”, with a narrative centered on two female characters, has as a backdrop the development of the Cold War (1937-1991) and the restrictive performance of the Hays Code (1934).
