Prisão, trabalho e ressocialização – políticas públicas implementadas na unidade prisional feminina Desembargadora Auri Moura Costa

Abstract

There are three topics that deserve to be highlighted in the study of violence and criminality: prison, work and resocialization. Prison and its legal and social implications; work as an instrument of personal and collective formation; and resocialization as a tool to seek social peace and combat criminal repetition. Understanding that the way to go in search of social peace must start with investment in permanent public policies, this article presents concepts and social theories that indicate that the lack of State action in the face of the needs of support for the most needy social strata, which occurs through concrete actions that guarantee health, education, leisure and culture, they conduct a predatory policy to control poverty and social exclusion, with violent actions by public security forces in peripheral areas dominated by crime and drug dealing. Within this universe of inefficient state action, women represent a severely impacted public, since the lack of job opportunities and poverty can lead to facilitation in grooming by criminal groups. This article brings some reflections on the importance of public policies as a way to combat crime and lists some actions implemented by the Government of the State of Ceará aimed at inmates and released from the Female Prison Unit Auri Moura Costa, with regard to professional training, opportunities employment and social assistance.
