Abstract

Diseases of the penis and foreskin are common in veterinary routine and can be divided into congenital and acquired. These conditions often result in chronic penile exposure, necessitating surgical correction. Therefore,
the objective was to report a preputial reconstruction, carried out in a single stage, using a superficial caudal epigastric axial pattern flap associated with an oral mucosa graft in a four-month-old canine. The animal was
treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the State University of Ceará, with an extensive lesion in foreskin and penile exposure, resulting from previous surgeries to correct phimosis. The main complications of this type of surgery
include seroma, suture dehiscence, scar retraction, preputial orifice stenosis, paraphimosis, and rejection and necrosis of the graft used. In the late post-surgical period, an adequate evolution of the surgical wound was
observed, as well as the viability of the skin flap and oral mucosa graft. In conclusion, the reconstruction used appears to be a viable alternative to penectomy, with low morbidity, short hospitalization period, preservation
of the penis, and good aesthetic appearance, highlighting that complications such as paraphimosis and preputial stenosis may require additional surgical intervention.
