Mammary neoplasms in dogs are of significant importance in veterinary medicine and have been extensively investigated. This work describes the occurrence of these neoplasms related to the age group and breed of animals between 2003 and 2011 in Fortaleza and the Metropolitan Region. A total of 336 samples were obtained. Over the 9 years of survey, only bitches presented mammary neoplasms in this region, with an average age of 8.6 years. There were no cases in males during the aforementioned period. Regarding breeds, we can list the Poodle (n=l l 8; 35.11%) and SRD (n=50; 14.88%) as the most common. Although there is variation in the observed behavior of the neoplasms, most of the tumors diagnosed were malignant and comprised: Mixed Tumor Carcinoma (51.69%), Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma (15.73%), Tubulo-Papillary Carcinoma (12.36 %) and Tubular Carcinoma (7.87%). Among the benign tumors, the most common were: Benign Mixed Tumor (59.49%), Complex Adenoma (18.99%) and Simple Adenoma (8.23%).
