Abstract

Guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) are extremely sensitive to small changes in their daily routine, which can cause discomfort and stress, leading them to stop exhibiting its natural behaviors, refusing food and water. This situation can lead to the appearance of disorders in various systems, including the urinary system, such as urolithiasis and cystitis. The diagnosis of these alterations in the urinary system is essential for early treatment of this potentially serious condition. Imaging exams, such as ultrasonography, have a crucial role in this diagnosis. This study aims to report the case of a 3-year-old intact male Cavia porcellus, weighing 979g, which presented with hematuria, and the use of ultrasound examination for diagnosising cystitis associated with the formation of bladder stones
