Basics concepts about nutrition and feeding dogs and cats
Keywords:
Pets, Carnivores, Obesity, PeculiaritiesAbstract
The evolution of research on dog and cat nutrition in recent years has resulted in a greater understanding of their nutritional needs, thus reducing the occurrence of malnutrition in these species. However, because these animals are considered by many to be members of the same category, some owners may make a primary mistake of feeding cats as if they were dogs. In addition, since formulations are increasingly sophisticated, it is easier for owners to make another mistake in feeding management: overfeeding. Considering that adequate nutritional management can delay or prevent diseases, improve quality of life and promote longevity, the objective of this work is to highlight peculiarities, nutritional requirements and provide information for measuring quantity and feeding management.
