Abstract
The objective was to estimate the influence of the effects of sex, type of birth, month and year of birth on the birth weight characteristics of crossbred Anglo Nubian goats in the Baixo Parnaíba Maranhense region. Weighing data from 235 Y2 Anglo Nubiana + Yi SPRD kids, belonging to the Fazenda União database, born between 2007 and 2010 were used. Statistical analyzes were carried out using the least squares method and chi-square contingency test. The statistical model contained as sources of variation the fixed effects of sex, month and year of birth of the kid, type of feeding (single and double) and random error. The means and standard errors of the birth weight of the evaluated goats were 2.75 ± 0.71 kg. There was a significant effect of sex, month and year of birth on the birth weight of kids, while the type of birth (single or double) had no influence on this characteristic and there was no association with the effects of environment.
