THOUGHT AND DISCUSSION: OTHER POSSIBILITIES TO THINK ABOUT WITH HISTORY.

Abstract

After the publication of the book Watch and Punish, the French thinker Michel Foucault, a French historian named Jacques Léonard, writes a critical review of the book. In this article, Jacques Léonard proposes a form of reading of the book and of history. In response to this proposal, Michel Foucault writes a text and proposed a kind of historical reading form for his book, and discussed a certain type of historical writing. The proposal here is, after following the discussions between Michel Foucault and Jacques Léonard, to reflect on the possibilities of thinking with history about the recent discussions about historical knowledge itself. The successive positioning that the network, mainly in social networks, has put in agenda some assumptions naturalized on the historical knowledge. The effort was to try to broaden the reflections and the unsettled on the history that may exist in time of changes.
