Abstract

This text aims to discuss how ANPUH and the Brazilian Journal of History participate in the construction of the disciplinary memory of Brazilian historiography, especially since 1981 when the magazine was created and published its first edition. In this sense, we try to think about the institutional, political and intellectual relations that made possible the construction of a certain disciplinary memory for the field of History in Brazil from then on. And how, from these elements and places, some debates, conflicts and disputes have permeated the construction of this memory. Perhaps the most evident and emblematic of these disputes was the one that opposes the historiography produced by the institutions installed in São Paulo, notably USP and UNICAMP, to the historiography made by Rio de Janeiro. This dispute aims to define the guiding locus of "modern Brazilian historiography", when it presents itself as a mirror of the rules and procedures came from those states.
