Abstract

In this present paper we seek to bring to light some general considerations about the persistence of superstitious practices within the Suevi Kingdom (SEC. V - VI). These, with the apparent support in the pamphlet De Correctione Rusticorum, have been often associated (if not deliberately identified) by historians with the inhabitants from Galician fields. On the contrary, with the support of documents and other historiographic productions on the subject, we have attempted to argue towards a wider perspective: that these beliefs, in fact, were spread also among the other sectors of society, namely, the urban spaces and the secular and clerical aristocracies, not being a distinctive or an exclusive feature of the peasants.
