MORFOFISIOLOGIA DO APARELHO REPRODUTOR MASCULINO DE GATOS DOMÉSTICOS

Os gatos são considerados, cada vez mais, a primeira escolha entre os animais domésticos e se destacam como pacientes na clínica médica veterinária, em virtude de distúrbios no trato urogenital. Assim, o estudo da anatomia e fisiologia reprodutiva desses indivíduos é a base para a compreensão e intervenção sobre patologias reprodutivas e urinárias, bem como para a investigação de técnicas de reprodução. O sistema reprodutor de gatos domésticos, apesar de formado também pelos testículos, epidídimos, ductos deferentes, glândulas sexuais acessórias, uretra, pênis, sacos escrotais e prepúcio, possui diversas peculiaridades que merecem destaque. Suas funções são controladas pelos sistemas nervoso e endócrino, em uma complexa interação. Com base no exposto, este trabalho teve como objetivo desenvolver uma revisão de literatura sobre o sistema reprodutor do gato doméstico, destacando as suas particularidades, a fim de orientar os médicos veterinários quanto às principais características anatomo-fisiológicas da espécie, o que permeia a base para a sua adequada intervenção clínica, cirúrgica ou mesmo biotecnológica.
