Abstract
The fork-tailed palm-swift is a fairly common Apodidae family swift in the urban area of Mossoro-RN, being found in native palms as Carnaúba (Copernicia prunifera) and Buriti (Mauritia sp.), using these trees for feeding, sleeping and nesting. Given the short information on the microbiota of Tachornis squamata, this research was driven for the species of potentially pathogenic bacteria and normal microbiota. 20 swabs were collected, 11 samples of the oral cavity and 9 of the cloaca. Bacterial colonies were subjected characterization of the morphology and biochemistry for later identification. Staphylococcus growth was detected in 72.7% oral cavity samples, represented by: S. haemolyticus, S. schleiferi, S. lugdunensis and S. saprophyticus. While in stool samples, a higher occurrence of Enterobacter spp. was detected. Wild bird microbiota represents an important route to transmission of potentially pathogenic bacterias throughout close contact with humans and others animals.
