This work aims to report a case of osteopenia that was caused by excessive stress on the implants after osteosynthesis of a short oblique distal radius fracture in a toy breed dog, also highlighting the importance of radiographic monitoring in the postoperative period, the individual patient assessment in decision-making and the results obtained after staged removal through the process of dynamization, which consists of the gradual removal of the screws, thus reducing the excess damage caused by the implant and enabling the biological function to be gradually restored, reducing the risk of a new fracture. Thirty days after removing the last screws, there was no need to remove the plate. It was possible to observe the almost complete recovery of the bone matrix, the animal returned to support the limb and walkwith no lameness and pain. Thus, after the last control radiography the animal received medical discharged.
