Ivermectin is an anti-parasite medication widely used in Veterinary Medicine. Nevertheless, factors such as its easy acquisition and incorrect administration by pet owners can lead to poisoning. This study reports a clinical case of a Maltese dog intoxicated by ivermectin. A 4-years-old male Maltese dog, weighging 3,05kg was referred to the Veterinary Hospital of the State University of Ceará, presenting incoordination, oliguria, sialorrhea, mydriasis and involuntary muscle spasms after 48 hours after innapropiate adsministration of a ivermectin. On physical examination, hypothermia, hypermetria and hyperesthesia were observed. Full blood count and biochemical profile were requested. Supportive treatment with lactated Ringer’s solution fluid therapy, vitamin B complex and patient warming was conducted. The animal showed a significant clinical improvement and total recovered a week later.
