ASPECTOS FISICOQUÍMICOS E CITOLÓGICOS DO LÍQUIDO SINOVIAL DA ARTICULAÇÃO TEMPOROMANDIBULAR DE EQUINOS DE VAQUEJADA

As afecções dentárias podem afetar diretamente a higidez da articulação temporo-mandibular (ATM), desencadeando inflamação e consequente dor, levando a redução do desempenho atlético e a problemas comportamentais. Desta forma, o objetivo do presente estudo foi realizar a avaliação físico-química e citológica do líquido sinovial da articulação temporo-mandibular (ATM) de equinos da raça Quarto-de-Milha participantes de provas de Vaquejada. Foram avaliadas 28 articulações, de 14 equinos (12 machos e duas fêmeas), com peso médio de 384,21±55,01 quilos e idade média de 6,71±4,23 anos, os quais nunca haviam recebido qualquer tipo de tratamento dentário. Todos os animais recebiam o mesmo manejo nutricional composto de ração peletizada comercial (duas vezes ao dia) e viviam em regime intensivo de criação. Realizou-se exame físico geral, avaliação odontológica, centese das ATMs e análise citológica e físico-química do líquido sinovial. Com os resultados obtidos é possível afirmar que as variáveis analisadas encontram-se dentro dos parâmetros de referência e que as alterações dentárias detectadas ao exame intra-oral não foram capazes de promover alterações na articulação temporomandibular de equinos de Vaquejada. Conclui-se que as alterações orais encontradas não levam a problemas na ATM; que a centese da ATM deve ser realizada em ambiente próximo ao laboratório clínico; para a dosagem de proteínas totais no líquido sinovial, a avaliação mais fidedigna é a do método do biureto e, para o diagnóstico de lesões nesta articulação são imprescindíveis estudos que possibilitem a compreensão da dinâmica articular na resposta inflamatória.
