Abstract: The present article deals with an introductory reading about the study of the soul in Aristotle's conception. It is well known that for the greek philosopher the soul is a central theme in his philosophy, for from the understanding of the ideas that involve the definition of it, especially in De Anima, it is possible to draw a thread to understand different areas of his thought philosophical, especially in the field of ethics. According to Aristotle the soul is composed of three faculties, namely: nourishing soul, which belongs to all living beings; sensitive soul, proper to animals and intellective soul, belonging exclusively to the human being. These faculties can be thought distinctly, yet they are united in one essence: the breath of life.
