CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT THE VIRTUE OF MODERATION IN ARISTOTELIAN ETHICS

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to discuss moderation as a virtue based on Aristotelian ethics, in order to reflect on the importance of this concept for today. For this, we turn to the works of Aristotle, especially the Nicomachean Ethics. Furthermore, in order to broaden the view on Aristotelian theory, commentators and theorists of ethics, such as Alasdair Macintyre and David S. Oderberg, are used. The study of this philosophical theme leads to the affirmation that Aristotelian ethics is useful for today, since its themes reverberate serving as answers to contemporary problems.
