The present essay proposal will deal with the work of Ian Hacking (1936-*), entitled Representing and Intervening: Introductory Topics of Philosophy of Natural Science (2012), more specifically the chapter called internal realism. Our purpose with this thematic cut is to explain the critical arguments of the Canadian philosopher about what concerns the change of philosophical posture of Hilary Putnam (1926-2016) from realism to anti-realism. As well as its conceptual implications for the scientific realism of which Hacking is a participant and defender.
