Concepções sobre o desenvolvimento científico a partir de Thomas Kuhn e Karl Popper

The aim of this paper is to present the way in which Karl Popper (1902-1994) and Thomas Kuhn (1922-1996) characterize the scientific development. To do this, i highlight this theme in the Popper’s works The Logic of Scientific Discovery (1935) and, later, Conjectures and refutations (1963). According to Popper, scientific knowledge has evolved in a rational way and is getting closer and closer to the truth about nature. After, i consider Kuhn’s book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions (1962). In this book, Kuhn argues that science often develops from changes in theories that are incompatible.
