https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/14725

This article briefly presents the Japanese writer Murasaki Shikibu, author of the world’s first literary novel, dating back to the 11th century. The book, Genji Monogatari, which she wrote, encompasses much of the customs of Heian society, in which women lived at the mercy of men. Therefore, in order to contextualize this period, which was contemporary to the aforementioned writer, the theories of Takenaga (1987) and Suzuki (2003) were used. At the same time, we conducted a biographical survey, although unfortunately scarce, of Murasaki Shikibu, followed by the plot of her Magnum Opus. We conclude this research by pointing out the difficulty in finding Brazilian academic studies about Murasaki Shikibu and Genji Monogatari, which points to the need to change this scenario of hegemonically Western and phallocentric Literature, partially permeable to what is Eastern, which, as a rule, is appreciated only (or more) for its exoticism, when it has so much to teach and offer us. It is important to spread the name and achievements of Shikibu, who has been revered in Japan for over ten centuries, not in vain.
Maria Luiza Honorio Zhou Lin, Joy Nascimento Afonso

https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/14723

In “A terceira margem do rio” (“The Third Bank of the River”), by Guimarães Rosa, and “Olhos d’água” (“Watery Eyes”), by Conceição Evaristo, the plots are developed with contributions from the encounters and mismatches among parents and children. As a landscape that meanders through this “parenthood”, in the first, there is a river; and in the second, tears. In both narratives, son and daughter, respectively, who find themselves in the space of absence (the disappearance of the father and the uncertainty of the color of the mother’s eyes), undertake a search for an image, both paternal and maternal, that can configure a presence. Those two images trigger identities of masculine and feminine, of paternity and maternity, as spaces that transit between history and intimacy, affection and power. Both plots rely on several other operational readings, such as social issues in the countryside and the city. Therefore, our theoretical foundation includes a historical and sociological approach (Ariès, 1981; Perrot, 1991; Elias, 1994), philosophical (Badiou, 1995; Han, 2023) and the theory about blackness and ancestry (Oliveira, 2018). In the end, in both plots, water is the conductor of the identities that are constructed in the stories and reconfigure the places of mother-father-daughter-son.
Sarah Diva da Silva Ipiranga, André Araújo do Nascimento

https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/14766

Abstract: This article aims to discuss the importance of democratic and participatory management in public schools, demonstrating how possible this experience can be, as it is in Sobral, a city in Ceará County. In a country that has recently gone through a gradual and, finally, acute process of complete obscurantism due to retrograde governments in every sense, and, with special emphasis, in Education, being in a progressive government as we currently are, opens up space for us to give new meaning to rigid teaching concepts that had tied us to a past without much progress in this area. With a school model that emphasizes the dialogue between teaching and society, achieving excellence becomes easier. To support the assumptions we bring here, we are based on some Education theorists, such as Freire (2000), Lück et al. (2007), Paro (2010; 2005) and Valerien (1993). We conclude that in light of what is happening in Sobral City, it is fully possible to have schools whose democratic and participatory management points to greater advances in pedagogical and social terms.
Francisca Regilânia Ferreira Lima, Sueli Fernandes Carneiro Marinho Ferreira, Carmem Lúcia Carneiro Vasconcelos de Oliveira

https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/14706

In this article, we analyze the tale “Hansel and Gretel”, as it was compiled by the Grimm Brothers, applying Propp’s theory (2001) to fairy tales, as studied in the Literature and Semiotics classes of the Bachelor’s Degree in Portuguese Language and Literature at the Universidade Estadual do Ceará (Uece). We thus aim to identify and exemplify the narrative functions proposed by this theorist in the tale, discussing the role and evolution of the characters. We also use studies such as those by Greimas (1987) and Tatar (2002) to support our considerations. The analysis revealed the presence of Propp’s narrative functions in this tale, identifying the dynamics between the main characters. The integrated approach allowed us to explore the psychological and social dynamics present in it, considering aspects such as gender, power and parental responsibility. We conclude that the cultural and temporal adaptations of fairy tales highlight the continued relevance of those narratives in contemporary society and that, although Propp's theory (2001) provides a basis for the analysis of fairy tales, the critical analysis of family and social dynamics demands that we have more precise models to describe characters in current, contemporary contexts.
Brenda Lima dos Santos Lopes, Antônia De Jesus Sales

https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/15067

The gauche, the aesthetic personality of the poet, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, according to Affonso Romano de Sant’Anna (1992), is the theme of this article. Thus, we propose to explore the crooked, left, marginalized and painful universe of Drummond’s poetry. Initially, we will learn some biographical details about the author; then we will discuss the role of the lyrical self and approach the gauche aspect, announced in the debut work, Alguma Poesia (1930). Next, we will explore Brejo das Almas (1934), Sentimento do Mundo (1940) and A Rosa do Povo (1945), seeking aspects of this gauche characteristic. This is a bibliographical work, whose theoretical contributors are: Sant’Anna (1980), Santiago (1976) and Andrade (2015), etc. Based on Humberto Eco’s (1968) assertion that “the work is open”, we’ll adopt the interpretative/hermeneutic method; we’ll pay attention to the biographical, historical and stylistic aspects of the author. Drummond, holder of an essence and a writing style that’s typical of the gauche, was one of the important poets of the 20th century and, by way of homage, we present his poetic itinerary here, hoping that this research will serve as a basis for present and future investigations on our gauche, doing justice to his relevance.
Luciana Bessa Silva

https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/15075

This article focuses on the phonological similarities and discrepancies between Portuguese and Spanish, considering the pedagogical implications of this connection for the teaching of Portuguese as a second language, especially respecting native Spanish speakers. Using a qualitative approach and based on an extensive bibliographic review of specialist authors, such as Coutinho (1976) and Sáez et al. (2002) among others, the study contemplates a historical and phonological perspective of the two languages. Although Portuguese and Spanish share a common origin in Latin and present points of phonological convergence that facilitate the learning process, there are also significant dissonances – such as the presence of open-mid vowels, the variation in the pronunciation of consonants and the phenomenon of monophthongization of diphthongs – that do not coincide in both languages and can represent an important barrier for teachers and students at certain times. Such particularities very often impose specific methodological requirements that go beyond traditional teaching resources and demand a differentiated and contrasting approach to teaching Portuguese that is not always used. We conclude that the historical path of these languages and their distinct developments over the centuries have shaped phonological structures that directly affect the learning of Portuguese as a second language.
Michelle Soares Pinheiro, Larissa Karen Gomes Almeida, Regina Vitória Lira Cavalcante

https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/15069

Ana Paula Cabrera

https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/kixara/article/view/14745
