In the state of Maranhão, the geographical configuration favors the exceptionality of this phenomenon, whose records show a succession of events with high frequency and magnitude; particularly in the northern region of the territory, namely the most populous and populated, which records the most severe damage. Considering historical records, this study was developed with the aim of analyzing the impacts of floods in a panoramic view for the entire state, using as methodological procedures analysis of bibliography related to the topic, documentary research and images from remote sensors to measure phenomena and support discussions in a comprehensive and systematic way. The result of the research presents a scenario of the occurrence of floods in the state, as well as the management of socio-environmental risks and damages. The importance of identifying areas susceptible to flooding that puts the population at risk is highlighted, especially those that reside on the banks of water bodies, which is necessary to support territorial planning policies for the urban area and management of land use and occupation.
2025-11-17T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Igor de Luccas Santos, Jamille Oliveira Sousa, Taíssa Caroline Silva Rodrigues, Antonio Cordeiro Feitosa https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/GeoUECE/article/view/13144 Geodiversity and Geomorphological Heritage in the Municipality of São Miguel (RN, Brazil) 2025-05-16T08:46:43-03:00 Taynar Alves de Sousa taynaralves2002@gmail.com Jacimária Fonseca de Medeiros jacimariamedeiros@uern.br
The general objective of this research was to inventory the Geomorphological Heritage existing in the municipality of São Miguel - RN. Thus, the research adopted a comprehensive approach, combining a literature review, methods and techniques for preparing cartographic products, field activities and the identification of Geomorphosites with the help of Henriques' (2023) inventory form related to crystalline geoforms. As a result, four geomorphosites were recognized (Mirante do Cristo, Cachoeira do Quebra, Afloramento do Oiteiro and Afloramento da Serrinha) which stand out for their significant importance in terms of values (scientific, ecological, didactic, cultural and aesthetic) and their use for recreational leisure activities, contemplative tourism and as an educational resource. In addition, the absence of protection measures in these areas was also observed, not least because they are vulnerable sites that lack protection measures and the local population's lack of knowledge about these areas. Therefore, a relevant proposal would be to include the Geomorphosites in a municipal tourist itinerary, in which local public and/or private bodies can establish preservation strategies and provide minimum infrastructure for access to the sites, such as trails, signposts, support from tourist guides, among others. The creation of this itinerary would enhance the value of the geomorphosites, raising awareness among local residents about the richness of geodiversity.
2025-05-16T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Taynar Alves de Sousa, Jacimária Fonseca de Medeiros https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/GeoUECE/article/view/14520 RENDA DA TERRA E CRISE DOS FERTILIZANTES AGRÍCOLAS A PARTIR DO BRASIL 2025-05-16T08:46:41-03:00 Ivan Barreto ivan_sbarreto@hotmail.com
The issue of land rent in capitalism is a complex chapter in the history of economic thought. Based on the specificities of agrarian activity, the aim is to analyze the relationship between land rent and the means of labor valorization through the main operational expense of large-scale crops: agricultural fertilizers. The scarcity of both land and mineral fertilizer deposits highlights a conflict accelerated by the monopoly and speculation surrounding the use of natural resources, which affects the possibility of sustainable management of natural resources, access to land, food production, and costs. Brazil, as a producer of commodities for the global market, ranks as the fourth-largest global consumer of fertilizers (the country's most imported item). The monopoly, the finite nature of mineral deposits, and the subsequent crisis in fertilizer extraction and production in a context of economic dependence signal the collapse of the current agricultural model.
2025-05-16T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Ivan Barreto https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/GeoUECE/article/view/14156 Using games to teach physical Geography: competing in the gullies of Cacequi (RS) 2025-11-26T16:37:17-03:00 Raquel Camargo Trindade raquel.trindade@acad.ufsm.br Eric Moises Beilfuss ericmoisesb@outlook.com Carina Petsch carinapetsch@gmail.com Tiele Lopes Cabral tielecabral@gmail.com
The teaching of Physical Geography is sometimes done superficially or only with theoretical approaches, without using methodologies that engage the student. This article aims to create and apply a didactic sequence involving the erosion processes of Cacequi (RS), using games as review methods. Sixty-six seventh graders from a school in Cacequi (RS) participated in the activities. Methodologically, the research was divided into: (i) theoretical and spatial sensitization using geotechnologies; (ii) fieldwork; and (iii) application of games. As for the results, the students demonstrated prior knowledge of physical geography and used geotechnologies to observe aspects of the municipality's relief, land use, and cover, and hydrography. During the fieldwork, they answered several questions, especially about the sandy soils of Cacequi (RS) and the role of vegetation in containing erosion. About the games, the students were motivated in all of them, working in teams to revise the content. They had some doubts about geomorphology concepts, but got most of the questions right, involving physical aspects of the municipality. Given the above, the didactic sequence helped to promote the teaching of physical geography in the municipality of Cacequi (RS).
2025-11-17T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Raquel Camargo Trindade, Eric Moises Beilfuss, Carina Petsch, Tiele Lopes Cabral https://revistas.uece.br/index.php/GeoUECE/article/view/13104 Morphopedological Study in a Toposequence in Alto Banabuiú - CE 2025-05-16T08:46:45-03:00 Icaro Breno Da Silva icarobrenos@hotmail.com Daniel Rodrigues dos Santos drs.santos@outlook.com Lúcia Maria Silveira Mendes lucia.mendes@uece.br
The morphopedological approach delimitates compartments from the relation between the lithological, geomorphological and pedological aspects, being widely used for the diagnosis and control of erosion processes. In this sense, the area analyzed is located in the central portion of the state of Ceará, covering part of the sub-basins of the rivers Tome, Miguel Rodrigues, Bonsucesso and do Meio. The overall goal of this research is to analyze the laminar erosion susceptibility of the basin of the Alto Banabuiú from the morphopedological compartmentalization. It was decided to use the integrated analysis of environment, as well as by the adaptation of methodologies related to the morphopedological approach. For that, raster and vector data were addressed in the software QGIS, which helped in the production of thematic mappings. Along the area it was possible to distinguish six morphopedological compartments, being the compartments III (89.09 km²), I (241.09 km²) and VI (46.97 km²) the most vulnerable ones to erosion processes, representing 25.5% of the total area. The work serves as an important source for a better planning and proper management of forms of use and occupation of the soil at the river basin level, avoiding environmental problems and economic losses.
2025-05-16T00:00:00-03:00 Copyright (c) 2025 Icaro Breno Da Silva, Daniel Rodrigues dos Santos, Lúcia Maria Silveira Mendes
